The Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde (SV) is one of the oldest dog breeding clubs in Germany, founded in 1899 in Karlsruhe. The SV is based in Augsburg and is responsible for the breeding and training of the German Shepherd. It is a member of several organizations, including the International Rescue Dog Organization and the World Union of Shepherd Dog Associations. The SV is also a member of the Verband für das Deutsche Hundewesen and the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Zuchtvereine und Gebrauchshundverbände.
